2008

The set-up in my bedroom was less than ideal. It lasted for two days. Yesterday I decided to move it back out to my studio. (My studio is where the living room should be). I have been working on a painting of morning glories for a few days now. It is coming along nicely. I want to do a series of them. This one will be kind of tight in the way I paint it. I will do some with a more loose style next. It is fun to see the different ways to approach a painting. Today I went to a blog of a watercolorist whose blog’s name is DouDy Sketche. I love the freshness of his work. It makes me want to try to do a quick painting a day. I really want to get the looseness back in my paintings and I think doing a quick painting a day will help me accomplish this. Check out Doudy’s site. He is an inspiration to me.

When I was learning to paint, I tried all kinds of different techniques. I haven’t done that in a long time now and really want to go back to doing this. I want to take out my books and go through them working on different techniques and just having fun. I think this is a perfect time to do this.  I wasn’t painting for about a year due to illness and I’m starting up again, so it is a good time for re-learning. After all, this is a lifelong learning process.

I am so happy when I am painting. This is food for my soul!
