I am an artist.  My mediums of choice are pastels and watercolors.  I am also a woman who lives with several chronic illnesses.  Art is my therapy; creating brings me much joy and happiness.

I moved to southern Arizona  from Minnesota (where I was born and raised) with my life partner, Chris O’Byrne.  We moved here for health reasons, but also because the desert was calling us.  The desert is a spiritual place for us and is a place of great beauty.  I hope to convey this beauty in my landscapes.  In addition to painting landscapes,  I also paint flowers and am moved by their gentle beauty.

Painting is a never-ending learning experience for me.  It is what I love.  It feeds my soul. If  I am not painting,  I am thinking of painting, dreaming of painting, living and breathing painting.

    Sara;
    I have been thinking about you and it is about time I found you. The email you gave me so many years ago must have gotten copied wrong. It’s great to see your artwork. It is beautiful.
    Please get a hold of me. We have much to catch up on.
    Oh, and Happy Birthday.

    Hey Sara, great to see your picture, is great you are into painting —- often us with FM & MTP (as it is now called) are artistic —- please keep in touch. I have the piano, I don’t teach anymore, nor am I a pipe-organist. Now I’m starting an on-line site for Australians, we don’t have one, (hopefully soon will have) I read your story with interest —- at the moment I’m snowed under with overdue E mails, but would love to continue to catch up after all these years. Love Dot

    Hi Sara,
    First of all, I was very happy to see your friend request! O.K., I have not accepted it yet, but I will! I got excited about your watercolor gallery and everything I saw there! I loved the vivid color of your main 3 pieces highlighting your categories, the flowers, southwest, and whimsy. I would love to chat with you back and forth as each of our health allows..and understand there may be spaces that “lie fallow” due to fibro or whatever is going on….no big deal…I haven’t read your blog entirely, but yes, I get the point that you have some time constraints due to health..as do I. We have that it common, as well as our desire to do art as coping, but beyond that – hopefully as an inspiration to others! I do some photography, a bit of watercolor pencil, and also poetry and other writing. I’ll post some of my work when I am able, and I will send you a link then. I wish you a pain free day tomorrow, Peggy

    Hi Peggy,

    As you can see I haven’t written anything here in quite awhile. i do plan to re-do the website, and have the blog be a separate page. anyway, Am I to understand that you have fibro also? Do you have other health issues? I would love to chat with you about this and the art. I can’t wait to see some of your artwork. It has been good therapy and I hope to someday be able to make a living at it. Luckily for me I won’t need much by that time. Maybe we can message each other on FB. That way we can give each other our number etc. Take care and I wish for you a pain free day tomorrow as well. I am lucky in that I am able to use narcotics for pain. It has made the world of difference as well as some of the other meds that help with nerve pain etc. I hope you are abel to get some kind of relief for the pain.

    Take care,
    Sara
